Earlier today, it was confirmed that star player Rio Allan would depart the Countrymen for an opportunity to play in the National League North.
Allan’s talents have been seen by many for a while, after securing a trial with Championship side Stoke City in 2023, but will now be looking to prove himself in the sixth tier of English football.
This comes after finishing the season as both the club and league’s top goalscorer, with 39 goals in all competitions for the winger in his solitary season for Hallam.
In a statement put on X (formerly Twitter), the club said “although there is sadness to see Rio leave, we are immensely proud of what he has achieved over the season, and couldn’t be happier to see him go and play at a higher level.
“We wish him all the best and will watch and support from afar.”
Allan, who scored the equalising goals in both the Sheffield Senior Cup final and the Play-Off final, says “the time has come for me to move onto my next chapter.
“It’s been an honour to be part of it and I’m grateful for the memories we have shared together.
“I wish you all the best for the future”.
Rio departs with the club’s best wishes and appreciation for the role he played in winning promotion and reaching a cup final.
