Jamie Sharman was on hand in the 20th minute to take Hallam into the lead, but an injury-struck Hallam side were unable to hold on against a strong Steelmen side.
This loss means the Countrymen are still yet to win in September, and have now lost five out of their last seven, drawing the other two.
Craig Denton made two changes from his side’s midweek loss to Ashington, with Benni Ndlovu and Jack Brownell being replaced by Jack Dolman and Adam Blakeley respectively.
Hallam did go into the lead 20 minutes in when a Mason Warren corner proved too difficult to clear for the Steelmen, with Sharman eventually tucking home for his first of the season.
But that lead was short lived, with Adam Boyes getting two goals in three minutes; smartly rolling the ball into the far corner for his first, and taking it down from a high through ball and slotting it past Hugo Warhurst to take Redcar Athletic into the lead.
And with five minutes to go before half-time, the Steelmen doubled their lead; Louis Johnson picking the ball up on the edge and firing into the bottom corner.
At half-time, the Countrymen made their one and only substitute of the game due to a plethora of injuries and absences from the squad, with Calum Ward replacing Paulo Aguas.
And the Countrymen were fighting valiantly for a way back into the game, putting lots of pressure on the home side’s defence, but were unable to create anything clear cut.
They did have a good chance in added time however, when a scuffed shot on the edge of the box from Warren was nearly met by Danny South, but the defender-turned-striker was unable to get on the end of it.
Following this attempt at the other end, Redcar Athletic added a fourth, with Louis Johnson getting his brace; slipping it between Warhurst and the near post.
This loss leaves Hallam 19th, in the relegation zone, but play bottom of the league SIlsden on Tuesday.
