We sat down with Harry Oldroyd from the physio department this week to get the latest on the squad’s rehab progress. Here’s the inside scoop on where things stand;
Keenan Ferguson
Q: How’s Keenan progressing after his recent setback?
A: “Keenan is currently awaiting scan results on his lower-back injury before we decide the next steps in his rehab. He’s been doing really well in the gym and staying consistent with his program. At this stage there’s no confirmed return date, but he’s ticking the right boxes.”
Benni Ndlovu
Q: Supporters are eager to know—how’s Benni looking?
A: “Benni has been dealing with pubalgia, but we’re pleased with his progress. He’s returned to training, completed a full session on Thursday night, and is continuing his on-grass rehab. If all goes to plan, we expect him back late November or early December.”
Stephen Brogan
Q: What’s the latest on Brogs after his groin issue?
A: “Brogs suffered a grade 2b groin strain, so we’re taking a careful approach. He’s making steady progress, continuing a slow return to training alongside on-grass rehab. We anticipate he’ll be ready sometime in December, depending on how he responds.”
Leon Howarth
Q: Leon has been out for a while—any good news?
A: “Definitely. Leon is making really positive progress in the gym, focusing on strength work after injuring his Achilles in training. There’s no set return date yet, but the hope is he won’t be out too far into the new year. His attitude has been spot-on.”
Overall
Q: There’s been talk about the increase in injuries this season—what’s behind that?
A: “It’s something we’ve definitely noticed. Since being promoted, the physical demands, intensity, and fixture load have naturally gone up. With that, injuries can spike. To stay ahead of it, we’ve strengthened our processes with predictive RPE (Rate of Perceived Exertion) monitoring, daily wellness feedback tools, and more detailed load-management strategies. These help us spot early warning signs and adjust training before small issues become big ones. Progress and learning continues in all areas on and off the pitch.”
Q: Despite the challenges, how is the overall injury management track record?
A: “We’re proud of the work being done. A good example is Danny South, who made his return last week after a hamstring injury. Getting players back safely and efficiently is always our priority.”
We appreciate Harry taking the time to help us give the fans a better understanding of where these players are and what we’re doing as a club to help them and the whole squad throughout the season.
