Brodie Litchfield claimed his sixth of the season to bag a second-half equaliser for the Countrymen, ending their three-game losing streak in all competitions on a very wet Saturday afternoon.

Craig Denton made one change from their 3-1 away loss to Pontefract Collieries last weekend, with Mason Warren replacing the suspended Janni Lipka. Fan favourite James Cadman also featured in the squad for this game, for the first time this season.

But after 11 minutes, Blyth Spartans took the lead when a shot from the edge of the box took a big deflection, beating Hugo Warhurst into the bottom right corner.

15 minutes later, Hallam had four golden opportunities to get an equaliser, with Callum Dobson making a great double save to deny Benni Ndlovu and Danny South, before two more attempts were cleared off the line soon after.

But with 20 minutes to go, and mountains of pressure from the Countrymen, Hallam finally got their deserved equaliser. From another goalmouth scramble, Hallam finally got the ball over the line, with top scorer Litchfield adding to his already impressive goal record this season.

But despite continuing to question the Spartans defence in the final stages of the game, including a shot that just went wide from Harrison Poulter, and huge calls for a penalty, the game ended one-all; Hallam’s first draw in four.

This point for Hallam drops them down to 16th, but have one or two games in hand on most other teams.

And the Countrymen have two big away trips to the north-east coming up next week, with Ashington and Redcar Athletic being the opponents on Tuesday and Saturday respectively.
