Craig Denton takes charge of his final home match as Hallam FC manager this weekend as the Countrymen host Dunston UTS at Sandygate.
Hallam come into this one on the back of a 2–0 defeat away at Silsden last weekend. Despite that, their position in the table remains steady, sitting 13th with 50 points following promotion from the Northern Counties East Division last season.
At Sandygate this campaign, Hallam have played 20, winning 5, drawing 9 and losing 6.
This match marks the penultimate fixture of the season, and while it is unlikely to have a major impact on Hallam’s final league position, there is still plenty riding on the occasion with Denton aiming to end his time in Sheffield with a positive result and performance in front of the home supporters.
The visitors, Dunston UTS, arrive firmly in the play-off picture, currently occupying fourth position They come into the game in strong form, having won their last three matches, including victories over Bradford (Park Avenue), Newton Aycliffe and Lincoln United. The win over Lincoln United was particularly notable, ending in a 5–0 scoreline.
Dunston are managed by Jon McDonald, who was appointed in May 2023 after previously serving as assistant to former manager Chris Swails. Under his guidance, they have developed into one of the more consistent sides in the division this season.
In front of goal, Will Shaw is Dunston’s leading scorer, with a tally in the mid-to-high teens for the campaign. He is supported by Josh Davidson, who has added 9 goals, while David Robinson has also contributed with a similar return. Midfielder Joe O’Donnell has been another key threat, scoring 8 goals so far this season.
Statistically, Dunston hold the stronger record. They average around 1.8 points per game across the season, including over 2 points per game at home and just over 1.5 away. Hallam, by comparison, average just over 1.2 points per game overall, with similar returns both home and away.
For Hallam, Brodie Litchfield remains the club’s top scorer with 12 goals this season and will be the main attacking outlet once again. Leon Howarth, who has six goals to his name, will also be looking to add to his tally.
With one side looking to finish the season strongly at home and the other pushing to secure their play-off place, there is still plenty at stake despite the stage of the campaign.
Kick-off is at 3pm on Saturday 18 April 2026 at Sandygate.
