Hallam FC can confirm that, following a seven day approach from another step four side, captain Danny South has decided to leave the club.
South has been one of the first names on the team sheet in the two seasons he’s been a Countryman, with some important performances and goals, including lifting the play-off trophy to take Hallam into the highest division they’ve ever played in, and although there is sadness to see him leave, we wish him all the best in his new challenge.
On his personal X account, South had this to say: “Absolutely gutted to leave at this time but genuinely hand on heart I truly love this club. I will miss each and every one of you and this last two years have been class. All the best to everyone. Been a pleasure working with Craig Denton and Rob Poulter. Up the Hallam.
Hugo Warhurst will now be taking the armband, stepping up from his previous role as vice-captain.
Best of luck for the future, Southy, we’ll be supporting from afar! 💙
