Whitehead: "I think you can see the team developing"
It was a cracking afternoon at Sandygate on Saturday . Hallam FC unveiled its 2019/20 kit through a thoroughly professional video and social media release, with the shirts flying off the shelves ; and the home side then went on to defeat Harrogate Railway Athletic by 5-0 in a comprehensive Toolstation NCEL Division One display.
Hallam FC Website writers Ian Jones and Glenn Poulton caught up with Manager Stephen Whitehead after the win and started by asking him about his reaction to the victory.
Steven, I guess that's the sort of win that's been coming. How pleased are you with the win?
Yeah, we are obviously delighted with the win and that makes for three good results on the bounce now. I think you can see the team developing, how they are trusting each other and knowing their jobs. Collectively we were good all over the pitch.
Great to see Jordan (Turner) weighing in with his four goals, but also to see his partnership with Sam Smith really gelling. Sum up how you see their partnership right now
JT got the limelight with the goals, but he will second what I’m saying, in that if Sam isn’t as good as he is, he probably doesn’t get those chances. The partnership looks good and I look forward to it developing in the coming weeks. Sam takes a kicking every week and he deserves a lot of the plaudits in my opinion -but I’m delighted with JT as he loves to score goals.
A clean sheet too on a day when the club launched its new kit. Not a bad afternoon's work?
No, all round well played by everyone at the club. The people in the background don’t get enough recognition for what they do as volunteers, so I’d like to take the time to thank them for all they do for our club.
Hopefully we can carry on climbing the table and get where everyone at the club deserves to be.
